Dreaming of Spires: An Ode to Oxford
Of languid summers and gated quadrangles; of gothic arches
and stoned walls; of ink on fingertips and stolen kisses in the
library; of shaded picnics and butterfly nets; of fleeting ecstasy
and melancholic ruminations; of snow upon sills and elbows
upon desks; of furtive rendezvous' and failed exams; of wise
old wine and weeping willows; of interwar innocence and forgotten
friends; to Brideshead and Blackwell's; to battered novels and
broken whispers; to the folly of youth and the ache of remembrance.
