CONTINENTAL DRIFT: a tale of two soulmates who gradually drift apart
The ending in which there is no happily ever after. The ending in which John does not retire to Sussex with Sherlock, the one in which Sherlock keeps bees during the day and drinks endless cups of tea at night. The ending in which John finds happiness elsewhere, and they live their separate lives. The ending in which they keep in touch occasionally - updates on cases ("It's so dull without you") and minutiae from the clinic - and make promises to see each other more often. The ending in which they don't, really. The ending in which stilted polite conversation and domestic recollections only pass so much time. The ending in which the bi-weekly visit becomes bi-monthly - then thrice a year - then none at all. The ending in which the consulting detective and his blogger go their separate ways. The ending in which he never was able to stop looking at him like that.
